Our history
Formed in 1962, Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete was a division of Transport North Canterbury, a company founded in the 1930s by Mr R. G. Grant. In 1985, his sons Bob and Roly purchased the ready-mix concrete, shingle, sand and contracting divisions. The company operates through a board of directors and a general manager.
In April 2025, Christchurch Ready-Mix Concrete was acquired by H.W. Richardson Group (HWR). Also being a family-owned business, HWR is excited to carry on the proud legacy of the brand and continue delivering the quality products and services that Christchurch Ready-Mix Concrete is known for.

Harrison joined Christchurch Ready Mix in 2025 after the acquisition by H.W. Richardson Group. He has held various roles within HWR, most recently in an Area Manager role with the concrete division.
Harrison is a grandson of the founder of HWR, Bill Richardson, and is looking forward to carrying on the proud legacy of Christchurch Read Mix.
Neil joined the board in late 2015. Neil has worked in every aspect of the business since joining the business in 1985 and as such can provide a knowledgeable sales service to our customers. Neil is a grandson of the original founder.
Clive joined Christchurch Ready Mix in May 2022 having previously held Engineering leadership roles at Terra Cat, NZ Post, Airwork Aerospace and JMI Aerospace.
Having a background as a Certified Aircraft Engineer Clive has been leading technically focused teams for the past 15 years. Experienced in engineering design, Maintenance, Quality and Project management, Clive brings a wealth of knowledge & experience to the Workshop and Engineering division.
Richard joined CRMC in 2001 coming from a background in earthmoving. Richard has been successful in many roles; Initially managing our Hornby Concrete site, then taking up the role of Contracting Manager.
Richard was then promoted to Concrete Manager in the early stages of the earthquake rebuild and has led a very successful division and contributed well to the NZ Concrete Industry forums. In 2023 Richard was appointed Concrete and Civil Contracting Manager.
Richard’s leadership has been first class and has a reputation for getting things done. In his spare time Richard oversees IT and security issues as well. Richard enjoys the challenges of the combined role.
Rochelle is the current Finance Manager at Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete, having joined the company in March 2023. With over 12 years of experience in financial and management accounting, she brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role.
Prior to joining Christchurch Ready mix Concrete, Rochelle worked for various civil construction companies and large chartered accountancy firms. Throughout her career, she has developed a deep understanding of financial systems and processes, allowing her to manage complex financial operations with ease.
Sarah Watson joined CRMC in April 2019 after 17 years practicing resource management and environmental law.
Sarah deals with all aspects of human resources and health and safety. She also works with our operational managers to develop our sites from a consenting and compliance perspective.
Sarah enjoys the challenge of working for a diverse business and dealing with a range of people from employees to regulators.”
Rob has 30 years’ experience in the quarrying and concrete industries. He has held a number of management and technical support roles in Winstone Aggregates and Firth Industries and has recently returned to Christchurch Ready-Mix after a 7.5 year hiatus to manage our Aggregates division.
Rob also has a wide knowledge of the application of our products through his experience working on large construction projects and testing laboratories.
Andrew joined Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete as a Sales Manager in 2021. Prior to joining CRMC he held national and regional sales management roles within large corporations in both the timber and petroleum industries.
Andrew brings significant experience in all areas of customer service, sales, and strategic management.
