When the devastating earthquakes of 2010 and 2011 struck Canterbury, they changed the very ground we live on. This geological upheaval has rendered traditional foundations useless in many areas of Christchurch. Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete set about to develop a product that would provide Christchurch residents with a solid base on which to rebuild their homes and their lives.
Designed to meet the unique needs of our market, our Ready Raft Pod Flooring Systems are engineered for use on TC1 and TC2 land, with TC3 on request. Developed in accordance with the latest specifications and regulatory requirements, it's quicker and easier to install than standard slabs and provides the most stable building platform possible.

Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete's Ready Raft product is an innovative, cost-effective TC1 and TC2 foundation solution that offers strength, durability and functionality.
Every Ready Raft foundation/floor is individually designed by our engineers to suit on-site ground conditions and is a fast, efficient and practical construction solution.
Ready Raft may be used as an integral part of a specifically engineered foundation solution for builds on TC3 land.
The Ready Raft Pod Flooring System incorporates customised details to allow building services, such as waste pipes, water, power and phone services, to be integrated into the slab construction.
Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete’s Ready Raft steel fibre concrete mix can be used as a more cost-effective solution or as an alternative.
Polystyrene pods connect to form a single unit within the perimeter boxing of the foundation. The weight of the reinforcing steel is applied uniformly over the entire area of interconnected polystyrene pods, assisting in uplift restraint to prevent concrete from flowing under the pods.
Innovation and ingenuity, a comprehensive research phase and relentless diligence have resulted in a product that is immensely strong, incredibly durable and inherently dependable. Unlike the often-prohibitive costs of piling, which can now be required to go to a depth of more than 15m, our Ready Raft Pod Floor System is both quick and cost-effective to install.
Polystyrene pods and steel reinforcing can be quickly and efficiently assembled, slotting easily together to create a flooring system that is able to withstand the ongoing seismic activity which our city continues to be subjected to.
