Commercial concrete applications

We supply a wide range of structural concrete in accordance with NZS 3104 for commercial uses as well as all types of high-spec concrete, including self-compacting, fibre-reinforced and high, early-strength concrete.

Commercial work includes:

Continuous pours for large areas

We can accommodate large concrete pouring jobs, with over 1,000m3 of continuous pours. Some of our recent projects include the Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre in Christchurch and Shirley Boys & Avonside Girls Highschool.

Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre - Metro Sports

Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete won the supply for the flagship sport facility in Christchurch’s CBD. It is the largest structural project that Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete has been involved with.

Parakiore Recreation and Sport Centre is intended to be the largest aquatic and indoor recreation and leisure venue of its kind in New Zealand, and will be accessible to people of all ages, abilities, and skill levels.

At over 30,000m2, Parakiore Recreation and Sports Centre will feature a fifty metre, 10-lane competition swimming pool and a separate diving pool, large aquatic leisure area, five hydro slides, fitness spaces and nine indoor courts for sports such as netball, volleyball, and basketball. The facility would cater for the needs of the recreational, educational, and high-performance sporting communities.

Shirley Boys & Avonside Girls High School

Christchurch Ready Mix Concrete successfully delivered this major educational project.

There was a high demand for large pours and required skilled planning of resource, both in material and plant.

Volume: 7500m3

Duration: 9 months

Challenges: Providing large pours and being as flexible as possible in booking times when challenges such as engineer sign-off of foundation preparation failed, putting pressure on our client to re-book as soon as possible. There were complicated waterproof mixes required and our plant engineer had heavy involvement as well as our additive supplier.

Garden City Helicopters

CRMC supplied Street and Cook for this showcase project at the Christchurch International Airport.

Volume: 11,000m3

Duration: 2 years

Challenges: This project consisted of several different mixes. There was a show-piece polished concrete area where aesthetics was paramount. The exterior area was delivered directly from the chute of the truck with no pump at a rate of up to 90m3 / hr.
